It felt great to win the Scope Friday Lottery, as Richard explains. And it felt even better because he was making a real difference to the lives of disabled people and their families.
How did you feel when you won the top prize of £4,000?
“Unbelievable! We always get a lot through the post and we just thought it was another letter. Then our son said, ‘look at this letter from Scope, you’ve won!’ We’re really grateful.”
What are you going to spend your winnings on?
“We haven’t decided yet, but we think some of the winnings will go towards our mortgage. We have also just come back from a holiday in South America (my wife is from Chile), so it will help to pay for that.”
What does Scope mean to you?
I have been supporting Scope for years, as I was born with cerebral palsy. It has been difficult at times, but I’ve coped well. When we retired the money went down and we stopped some of our charity gifts, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to stop our gifts to Scope. It means so much to us.
