Mark volunteers at our shop in Grimsby. We spoke to him about how volunteering for Scope helps change the lives of disabled people – and how it has transformed his own life too. the lives of disabled people and their families.

Why did you start volunteering at our shop?

“Because I want to support Scope’s amazing work with disabled people! My sister used to volunteer too, and she loved it. And so do I. It’s such a warm and friendly shop. My partner also volunteers, and for her it’s a chance to make new friends.”

What does supporting Scope mean to you?

“It means a lot. I proposed to my partner at a Scope community fundraising event. We held a fashion show, so we were all suited and booted. I got up on stage and popped the question. She said yes!”

Congratulations! What would you say to someone
thinking about volunteering?

“Get involved! You will meet some amazing people. And you never know where it might lead…”
