What’s your passion in life? You are such a valuable supporter, but did you know that there are many different ways you can raise money for Scope? Many of our supporters take inspiration from their hobbies and interests as a fundraising idea.

We spoke to fellow supporter Kath Archer, who made a difference by putting on a show.

What inspired you to fundraise for Scope?

“I have known about the charity for some time now, because I’m always popping into my local shop. I also have first-hand experience of Scope’s vital work, because my daughter has cerebral palsy.”

What was your fundraising idea?

“My husband and I run a small theatre company in our spare time. We wanted to do something that involved our passion for theatre, so we decided to write and put on a play about attitudes towards disabled people.”

The play sounds interesting, tell us more!

“It was called Let Me Be Me, and it explored the theme of prejudice. It was partly based on the fairy tale of the ugly ducking, because I think it’s so important that we see people for who they really are.”

How did the performance go?

“It was a runaway success! 300 people came to the performances, and we had great reviews in the local press. Most importantly, we raised almost £200 for Scope.”

Whatever your passion in life, you can use it to raise money for Scope. Remember anyone can get involved as a fundraiser– whether you’re the perfect cake sale hostess, or an expert pub quizmaster.

We will supply you with plenty of purple, from Scope balloons to t-shirts, so you can promote your fundraising event.
